Formerly of Rensselaer Falls— Ruth E. Roca, 90, formerly of King Street, Rensselaer Falls, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Ogdensburg. Ruth was born March 13, 1926, in Pyrites, NY a daughter of the late, Leo E. and Margaret A. (Doyle) LaChance. She was a 1943 graduate of Canton High School and in 1946 she received her nursing degree from A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing. On August 28, 1948, she married the late Robert P. Roca. Mr. Roca died February 11, 2014. Ruth is survived by her son, Roderic and wife Donna of Ogdensburg; a daughter, Peggy Marcoux of Hyde Park, VT; two grandchildren, Victoria Roca Mace and husband Chris and James Roca; three great-grandchildren, Anthony & Brianna Mace and Perseus Owen Roca; two nieces, Mary Sue (John) Lowery of Troy, NH and Jacqueline McKeon of Chatham, NY; as well as, great and great great nieces and nephews. Ruth was employed by A. Barton Hepburn Hospital from 1946-1988 as a Registered Nurse working in various units as a Nursing Surpervisor. Some of her interests and hobbies were spending time at the family camp on the St. Lawrence River, gardening, her flowers, as well as, knitting and crafts. She was also known for her baked pies and sugar cookies. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 22nd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home with her funeral service to follow at 12:15 PM. Rev. Tom Nichols will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer Falls Fire Department. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.lawrencefuneralhome.org
