Hermon— Phyllis Marlene Reed, 71, of Howard Street, Hermon, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital while surrounded by her family. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at 12:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home& Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton with Lay Minister John Frary officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 Am until the time of services. Burial will be held in the Spring in Hermon Cemetery. Phyllis was born January 23, 1946, a daughter of the late Carlton W. & Phyllis J. (Canfield) Allen and graduated from Hermon-DeKalb Central School in 1964. On September 12, 1964, she married Bernard F. Reed, Sr. at the ____________. The couple were married until Sept. 1985. Phyllis first worked at Ames Department Store in Ogdensburg. She then worked as bookkeeper for R&S Construction in Hermon and then part time at North Country Freedom Homes. She was also a Job Coach for St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES in Canton and most recently she worked in housekeeping for United Helpers in Canton. She is survived by her children, Robert Reed, Kelly J. Reed and fiancé` Jeff Higham and Bernard "Peanut" Reed all of Hermon; two sisters, Mary (Tom) DeRosia of Cicero, NY and Nancy (Hubert) Schofell of Oriskany Falls, NY; a grandson, James Harmer (son of Kelly Reed); and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Debbie Downing, Marion Perkins and Marjorie Hammond; a brother, Carlton Allen and a baby daughter, Jenne Reed, who died at birth in Dec 1970. Phyllis was an avid BINGO player in Rensselaer Falls and Gouverneur. She also enjoyed the company of her pets, watching the wildlife and feeding the birds, as well as, her "scratch-offs" from Woody's Store.
