I am so sorry to hear of my all time favorite person at CHs passing away. Please know my thoughts and prayers will be with you all as you move ahead without your beloved husband and father and grandfather. My heart goes out to you especially Marilyn who was so devoted to him through his long illness.
I will always remember fondly the good natured ribbing he gave me regarding his beloved Montreal Canadiens in is 9th grade home homeroom and math class. He will always remain in my mind one of the classiest men I knew and and influence in my life. While it has been many years since we played golf together in the Wednesday night league my Dad and I always looked forward to our matches with Neil and Bill Miller.I especially enjoyed the few visits I had with him at the Nursing home. It brought great joy to me when we met and talked hockey and I know he knew it was my by his smile.
I am sorry I messed the calling hours and service. I am very upset about this but I literally just read his obituary and wanted to get my note out to you all.
Please know what a dear man he was and the great deal of love and respect I had for him.
May he rest in Peace.
Love you all

Mrs. Coir, Jennifer, and Greg,
I was deeply saddened by the news of your loss. Mr. Coir was one of my favorite teachers in Canton. His sense of humor made math that much more enjoyable. I will never forget his signature tie flip and all the times he gave me rides to/from school because I "lived on the right side of the tracks." Several years ago, my daughter was taking Algebra. I sat with her at the table and taught her what she needed to know. She asked how I was able to remember Algebra after all these years. I began telling her the stories about my favorite teacher!! These memories are very dear to me. He was a wonderful man and had a great impact on so many lives. I feel blessed to have crossed paths with him.
I pray your memories will bring you peace today and moving forward. Our sincere condolences.

My sincerest condolences to Mrs. Coir, Jennifer, Greg and their families. Having just seen Hidden Figures recently, I've been telling everyone about my Geometry teacher, Mr. Coir, to whom I am eternally grateful for passing me by one point, 66%, so I could get my Regents Diploma. His name always comes up in our family every hockey season as we Ranger fans root against Montreal Canadians, and that's the only time we root against the Habs. I think this year, we'll have to root for the Canadians, in Mr. Coir's honor. I can still hear his voice from 47 years ago. Our family only has fond memories of Mr. Coir. I appreciate his passion for hockey, his genuine caring for his students and their success. I have no doubt he is extremely proud of his children and grandchildren, and it's so nice to also know he loved Mrs.Coir deeply. They all are part of our fond memories of Canton. I wish you all whatever brings you serenity, peace and comfort.
With fond regards,
Annalee Ash

My sincere condolences to your family in this time of Grief. I pray the peace of God upon you all as only He can give.
It is amazing how far your Dad's influence reached. What a fun memory I have of algebra and trigonometry. I loved the way he threw out what was left of his chalk. He would never miss the waste basket with it. Then he would say "basketball" what a simple game. Usually as he was looking at a basketball player. A great sense of humor is a wonderful gift.
Again my sincere condolences.

Mr. Coir was one of the best teachers I had at CHS. His professionalism, his understanding and his ability to bring out the best in his students was amazing. When I returned to CHS in 1989 as a teacher, Mr. Coir was still there. My great respect for him never allowed me to call him Neil. He was and always will be Mr. Coir. He was influential in molding me into the teacher I had become. God bless his family and soar with the Eagles Mr. Coir. Say hello to my Mom and Dad.

Although some time had passed since my last visit with Neil, that fact did not diminish the sadness I felt when news of his passing reached me.
As an underclassman at St.Lawrence I admired his play in goal for the hockey team. He and I became friends during the summer of 1959, while I was still a student and he was then teaching at Parishville-Hopkinton. Thereafter we met frequently, sharing many laughs with his former employer, Ike Noble, over coffee at Ralph's, and attended Saints' hockey games and a number of Montreal Canadiens' games together.
Neil and I were teaching colleagues at Norwood-Norfolk Central, where he also coached hockey with great success, before he departed to take a similar position in Canton. For me, he was both colleague and valued mentor. His infectious wit and intelligence were as sharp as his goaltending reflexes.
Betty and I extend our sincere condolences and best wishes to his wonderful wife Marilyn, to Jennifer and Greg, and to their families.
