Pierrepont--
Funeral services for Viola M. Johnson, 79, of County Rte 24, will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Lawrence Funeral Home,Canton. Calling hours will be prior to the funeral from 10 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Pierrepont Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the family or to Richard E. Winter Cancer Treatment Center in Ogdensburg.
Viola was born January 14, 1938, at home in the Town of Pierrepont, a daughter of the late Mildred A. Barrigar Jacobs.
She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed crocheting and made over 100 knitted hats per year for cancer patients.
Surviving are her children and step-children, Douglas Putnam, David Putnam, Millie French, Brandie Smith, Donald, Richard and Robert Johnson and Laura Newton as well as several grand and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her step-father, Warren E. Burdick, one brother and two sisters.
