Formerly of Canton-- Kathleen E. Kelly, 87, formerly of Canton, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at St. John's Home in Rochester, NY. Kathleen was born February 20, 1930, in South Colton, NY, a daughter of the late, Allie Fisher Harden. She was a graduate of Colton-Pierrepont High School. On May 4, 1957, she married Thomas Kelly at the First Presbyterian Church of Canton. Thomas died in 1996. She was employed as a Senior Account Clerk for the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services for many years, retiring in 1991. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Sangiacomo of Fairport, NY and two grandchildren, David (Molly Getsloff) and Gina of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by several cousins and nieces. In addition to her husband, Thomas, she was predeceased by her other daughter, Lori Kelly in 1974. Kathleen was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Potsdam, where she served as a Bible School Teacher. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and was known for her knitting skills. In 2015, Kathleen moved to Rochester to be closer to her daughter, Barbara. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton with Pastor Leach officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home from 4-7 PM prior to the funeral. Burial will be Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton. The family would like to thank the staff at St. John's Home in Rochester for their compassionate care of her over the last year and a half. Three years prior to that she was cared for at Maplewood Assisted Living in Canton.
