Obituary of Rose B Soulia
DeKalb Junction—
Rose B. Soulia, 89, of Gibbons Street, DeKalb Jct., died Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since November 2016.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 19th at 10:30 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Canton with Fr. Douglas J. Lucia as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton. Private Burial will be held in East Road Cemetery, Heuvelton.
Rose was born March 21, 1928, in DePeyster, NY, a daughter of the late, William& Rosa (Richie) Kelley. She was a member of St. Henry’s Church in DeKalb Junction.
Rose worked for Losurdo Foods in Heuvelton for a number of years. She also was active in the DeKalb Fireman’s Field Days, St. Henry’s Turkey Dinners and she helped take care of the rectory at St. Henry’s.
Surviving are her children, Linda Soulia of Dekalb Jct., Barbara Haynes and companion Robert Nasworthy of Watertown, Gerald (Patricia) Soulia of Massena and Danny (Lyne) Soulia of Canton; one sister, Emma Gagnon of Russellville, MO; sister-in-law, Theresa Kelley of Waddington; as well as, forty-seven grandchildren , great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four children, Geraldine, Richard and twins Robert and Ronald; six brothers, Frederick “Bud”, William “Bill”, Weldon, Kit, Frances and Lindon; and five sisters, Mary Kelley, Helen Lamaca, Lillian Hoyt, Martha Lamaca and Beatrice Young.
Rose was fond of crocheting, making stuffed animals, playing BINGO and cards and reading.
Memorial contributions may be made to DeKalb First Responders or Rensselaer Falls Rescue Squad.
