Obituary of Wilbert E. Lennon

Wilbert Edward Lennon, 84, of Deer Run, Plattsburgh, formerly of Canton, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, Plattsburgh.

A mass of christian burial will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, at 2:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 68 Court Street, Canton with Rev. Fr. Bryan Stitt as celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the John Adams, Jr.  Amercan Legion, Post 0925, Norfolk  or to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Lennon was born May 2, 1933, in Abington, PA.  He was the son of the late Edward Krusen & Emma Mae (Merrick) Lennon and graduated from Lower Moreland High School in 1951.  He then attended Delaware Valley University.

On Aug 28, 1951, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving until his honorable discharge, May 25, 1960. 

From 1961-67, he was a janitor and church sexton at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Warminster, PA; he drove a truck for Hatboro Delivery, Warrington, PA from 1967-75; was a custodian for Knox Memorial School, Russell, NY; was a herdsman at Stone Meadow Farm Antiques Plus on the Irish Setttlement Road, Colton.  He had also been a herdsman for Earl Jamison in Lahaska, PA.

On October 23, 1953, he married his beloved Maria Dolores Borras in Centreville, MD.  The couple raised two daughters and a son.  Maria died Sept 1, 2003.

Surviving are his two daughters, Mary B. Lennon and husband Wearn Heinz of Pipersville, PA and Kathleen E. Lennon of Willow Grove, PA; and a son, Dennis M. Lennon of Willard, NY.

Mr. Lennon was a past member and Chaplain for American Legion Post # 0925 and member of the American Hampshire Sheep Assoc.

Some of his interests and hobbies included, working with leather, crafting, belts and handbags; Lionel trains; vegetable gardening; traveling to Ireland (3times) and Alaska, as well as, raising Hamshire sheep.
