Graveside funeral services for Wayne Robert Sharlow, Sr., 63, of Pestle Street, Russell, will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017, at 1:00 PM in North Russell Cemetery with Lay Pastor John Frary officiating.   Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14th from 5-8 PM and Friday from 10 am- Noon at Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton.

Wayne died unexpectedly, while working in Harrisville, on Tuesday, September 12th.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

Born February 17, 1954, in Canton, NY, he was a son of the late, Leo U. & Carrie Mae (Westerdick) Sharlow.   He attended Knox Memorial in Russell.
Wayne was a fuel truck driver for many years, most recently working for Tripp's in Fowler.
On December 27, 2014, he married Helen "Peggy" Perry at the Hermon Fire Hall with the Justice of the Peace as celebrant.  The two were a couple since 1991.

Previous marriages to Mary-Lynn Hastings and the late Gail Brown ended in divorce.


Wayne is survived by his wife, Peggy of Russell; six children, Carrie (Dan) Matthews of Canton, Wayne, Jr. "Jay" (Nancy) Sharlow of Degrasse, Tony (Lisa) Sharlow of Russell, Keith (Amber) Sharlow of Russell, Rachel (Jake) Phillips of MI and Jason Sharlow of VA; three step-children, Stacey Silver-McCarthy of VA, April (Edward) Kemp of Oswego and Rex (Grace) Burns of Pierrepont; eight siblings, Morris (Yvonne) Sharlow, Joan (John) Willard, Cheryl Sharlow, Ricky (Judy) Sharlow, Suzy (Richard) Walrath, Kate (Tim) Hazelton, Roy (Helen) Sharlow and Phyllis (Smokey) McBroom; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn Bevins and Sally Wright and a brother-in-law, Erwin Bevins.
Wayne enjoyed riding motorcycles and hunting and fishing with friends and family.  He also enjoyed music and was a musician playing at various benefits and social gatherings.  He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
