John N. "Big John" Flanagan, 52, of County Rte 24 Canton, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
John was born November 25, 1964, in Canton, NY a son of the late Clifford  & Mary Flanagan.  He attended Canton Central School.
On June 8, 1991, he married Minnie Foote at their home in the Town of Pierrepont.  The couple were married nearly 26 1/2 years.
John was employed as a groundskeeper for St. Lawrence Golf & Country Club for 17 years.
In addition to his wife, Minnie, he is survived by his four children, Gary (Trudy LaFountain) Foote, Gina (Rex) O'Shea, Jonathan (Megan Lucas) Flanagan and Steven (Kami Lucas) Flanagan; twelve grandchildren; a brother, Clifford (Brenda) Flanagan; four sisters, Patricia (Chris Backus) Murdock, Donna (Shawn) Miller, Dawn (Francis) Cole and Amy (James) Belonge; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Savana.
John thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, special days with his grandchildren, telling stories and playing pranks, as well as, wood-working.
​All services are being held privately.
Arrangements are under the care of Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton.
