Obituary of Margaret Dennee Crump

Margaret Dennee Crump, 84, formerly of Canton and North Syracuse, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Dec 17, 2017 at Country Day Living in Constantia, NY.

Margaret was born August 25, 1933 in Heuvelton, NY, a daughter of the late Lewis & Alice Burnham Dennee.  She graduated from DeKalb High School with a Regents Diploma in 1951.

On April 7, 1951, she married Erie Junior Crump at the Methodist Church in Ogdensburg.  Although they were from St. Lawrence County, the couple spent the bulk of their lives in North Syracuse.  They also owned a retirement home in Aiken, SC for 20 years where they enjoyed spending winters.

While working, Margaret was employed as an Information Operator for 23 years for NY Telephone Company in Syracuse and in the 1940’s she worked as a telephone operator in DeKalb Junction.  She also worked part-time for Zaza’s Pizza in Canton.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Erie J. Crump of Constantia, NY; five daughters, Donna Crump of West Monroe, NY, Wanda (William) Lack of Walnut Grove, MS, Ann Crump of Hannibal, NY, Margaret L. (Todd) Taylor of Raleigh, NC and Charlene Redell of North Syracuse; one son, Lewis (Ila) Crump of West Monroe, NY; ten grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Verna (Paul) Howard of Malone, NY, Esther Stromer of Hermon, NY and Barbara Peterson of Rome, NY and Douglas Dennee of Elizabeth, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Howard Dennee and William Dennee, as well as, by her faithful companion “Rusty”.

Margaret was a member of the Pioneers Organization through the telephone company as well as an attendee of various United Methodist Churches.

Margaret had a ‘green-thumb’, she enjoyed many hours working in her flower beds, caring for her house plants and watching birds eat from her feeders.  She also liked to bake homemade bread, and was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction.  She also did word search puzzles.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton with Rev. Mike Thesier officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
