Obituary of Michael Dean Cornwell
Canton—
Michael Dean “Mikey” Cornwell, 61, of Judson Street Road, died Friday, December 29, 2017, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
A Private Memorial Gathering will be held at the convenience of the family. Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services have been entrusted to Michael’s care and arrangements.
Born August 6, 1956, in Ticonderoga, NY, he was the son of the late, Jack & Shirley Williams Cornwell and was a graduate of Moriah High School.
On September 5, 1992, he married Sheila M. Stafford at their home in Canton with Judge Roger Favro as celebrant. The couple had a fun loving marriage for 25 years, spending Christmas together in the Bahamas for the last 15 years.
Michael was employed for 28 years as a Field Superintendent for Standard Industrial Structures, Houston, TX, constructing gas plants, nuclear plants and co-gen plants.
Surviving are his wife, Sheila Stafford Cornwell of Canton; two daughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Lash of Waynesburg, PA and Lindsey (Brandon) Barney of Aurora, CO; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Dawn (Kent) Belden of Ticonderoga; a special niece, Racheal (Mike) Nezezon of Massena; a special nephew, Ralph (Courtney) Monroe of Pulaski, NY; and a number of other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his first wife Sherry Zollars of Waynesburg, PA.
Michael loved deer hunting and socializing with his friends. He had a great sense of humor and made friends easily. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Waynesburg, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care or to Hope Lodge in Burlington, VT.
