Dear Lynne, Rebecca and family,
From Art and I and your Christ Church Family, please accept our sincere condolences on Paul's passing.
He was one in a million. Always made time for everyone, loved his family to pieces, and always left you laughting with a joke or comment. Between Paul and Ron Crocker at a party, the night was spent with side-splitting laughter. What a team those two were.
We send our condolences, our love, and our thanks to all of you for sharing Paul with us for 25 years. He will always be remembered with love at Christ Church.
Blessings, Marilyn (Sr. Warden) and Art Fletcher (Vestry member) & old friends

Dear Lynne and Family
My condolences go out to you. Words are not enough to express the sadness I feel regarding Paul's passing. Paul recommended me for a position at Community Workshops of RI, later named Vocational Resources, Inc. I worked for and with him for fourteen years in this agency. He was a remarkable man! Paul had an unconditional positive regard for everyone. He had a great sense of humor. Thank you Paul for touching my life!

Dear Lynne and Becky and family,
We were deeply saddened to learn that Paul has left this earth. He was a blessing to all who knew him and to many who did not know him but benefitted from all his good works, which were many. His keen intellect, unwaivering idealism, great warmth and compassion were crucial to bring solutions to many of the world's problems. We were all so fortunate to have known him. May all the wonderful times you shared together bring you much comfort in these sad days of mourning and in the years ahead.
Lots of love,
Dian and Tarik Pekin

Condolences from Rhode Island. I am deeply sad to read in today's paper that Paul has died. I consider him a wonderful friend whose work at Vocational Resources I admire, as well as his presence as a Deacon for many years at Christ Church, Lonsdale, R.I. I knew him also to be a wonderful teacher of adolescents at the Episcopal Conference Center. He had a keen mind and a delightful wit, and was also a person of considerable spiritual depth. I thank God for our friendship and for his notable years of godly service among us.

Lynne and family: We were very sorry to hear of the passing of Paul. We will miss his visits during sugaring season and visiting with him on his walks around the block. He was so kind to our grandson, giving him a pony ride and taking him in the buggy. Little Jacob will never forget him, nor will we. Joanie and Jim Woodrow

My deepest sympathies to Lynne and Rebecca. Rev. Pickens was a great part of my childhood at Christ Church. However my fondest memory was the going away party we had for the Pickens family in the Parish Hall. I got the honor of singing "That's What Friends are For" for you. The Pickens family will always be a great treasure of Christ Church.

I first met Paul when my aunt, Eleanor Seaman, persuaded me to join the board. A year later my aunt retired as executive director and Paul took over. Paul lead the agency through some tumultuous times as funding sources were constantly in a state of flux. As it is with the heads of small charitable organizations, Paul did everything. His creative budgets were legendary. Paul always went out of his way to develop relationships in the community that benefited others as well as promoting the agency's good work. His composure and sense of humor were the tools of his success. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to all the Pickens family.

To Paul's Family,
My deepest sympathy to your entire family and all your friends. Paul was a very special part of my life that started via a Bryant College project and evolved into my long standing role as a Board Member for the Agency he so loved! I learned so much from Paul, both as a non profit president and a Mentor to me. He was always willing to take the time to ask how things were going, but more importantly...he truly listened to the answer. I know this is a great loss for the family and community...although, the roads will now be safer! I have all too often been a passenger while he was the driver! I do not think there are cars in Heaven, but if there are, lets hope he has an Angel chauffer!
I will keep Paul in my prayers...

Lynne, Becky and family:
Please accept the condolences from the entire Goodwill family. Paul meant a great deal to all of the staff, current and former, who remember his stewardship through some very difficult times. He was a mentor to me and so many others of his extended family. Please know that he touched many, many lives. Not only those of the staff, but so many clients who passed through our doors during his many years of service here. A truly gentle soul who will be missed for his kindness, compassion and leadership. Personally, I will always remember fondly his impish, self-deprecating sense of humor and that ever-present smile. God bless him and may your memories of him sustain you in this time of sorrow and in the days to come.
