Obituary of Mary E. Denney

Formerly of Canton-

Mary E. (Pickett) Denney, 85, died Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the United Helpers Riverledge Nursing Home, while surrounded by her loving family.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 12th at 12:00 PM at Grace Church, Canton. Burial will be in the Cathedral of All Saints, Albany, NY. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Canton, NY

Surviving are her two daughters, Pamela Denney of Tillson, NY, Stephanie Denney of Syracuse, NY, four grandchildren and their spouses and eight great grandchildren. Her husband, Rev. Curtis S. Denney, her son, Daniel, four sisters, one brother and one great grandchild predeceased her.

Mrs. Denney was born in Watertown, New York on September 23, 1932, a daughter of Bertram and Marjorie Ada Perkins Pickett. She graduated from Watertown High School with the Class of 1950.

In 1951, Mary was united in marriage with the Rev. Curtis S. Denney. Thereafter, they celebrated 64 blessed years until Rev. Denney’s passing November 1, 2015.

She has held many clerical positions through the years. Her most recent where she retired as a  medical records technologist at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center.

Mrs. Denney enjoyed sewing, bowling, and traveling with family and friends. She was a woman that had a drive that never stopped. Along with her many ministries at many Episcopal churches in the North Country including Grace Episcopal Church, Canton, she was one of the founding members of Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be given to Grace Episcopal Church, Canton or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
