West Potsdam—

Warren C. Gilbo, 86, of County Rte 34, died Monday, March 19, 2018 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Private viewing and services are being held privately for the family.

Warren was born May 26, 1931 in Potsdam, NY, the son of the late, Ackley & Viola McDonald Gilbo, he attended area country schools and received his GED while in the Army. 

He served in the US Army, stationed in Germany,  from Nov 18, 1952 to April 1, 1963.

On March 24, 1955, he married Sybill Blatzheim in Bad Hersfeld, Germany.  The couple raised seven children and were married nearly 50 years.  Sybill died December 2004.

Warren retired from Potsdam State University Maintenance Department in 1994, where he was a member of C.S.E.A.  Previously he worked for the Town of Potsdam, where he was employed  as a mechanic.

Surviving are his seven children, Viola McGregor of Potsdam, Yvonne (Bill) Boron of Albequerque, NM, Linda (Mike) Smith of Palm Desert, CA, Christine Harbart of Colton, Warren A. of Potsdam, Ken C. of Potsdam and Bryan D.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister.

Warren enjoyed collecting coins, woodworking, tinkering in his garage and doing word puzzles.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund.
