Obituary of Ursula Harriet Coffey

Ursula Harriet “Ursy” Coffey, 91, of West Road, Hermon, died Sunday, July 8, 2018, at her home while surrounded by her loving family.
A mass of christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 9:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Canton with Rev. Bryan Stitt as celebrant.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 6-8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton. Burial will be in North Russell Cemetery.
Additional off-street parking is available behind “LUNA” on Park Street.
Ursula was born October 15, 1926, in Depoyster, NY, a daughter of the late, John & Catherine McHugh Hand. She graduated high school in Hermon and latermarried Bernard L. “Bud” Coffey on December 4, 1943 at St. Henry’s Church in DeKalb. “Bud” died March 2013. The couple lived in North Russell since 1966 and were married 69 years.
She is survived by her loving children, Gary B. Coffey of Hermon, David (Chandra) Coffey of Hermon, John (Shelly) Coffey of Austin, TX and Catherine Ann LaDuke of Watertown, NY; one sister, Kathleen Goria of Nyack, NY; eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Meredith, Caitlin, Jenna, Christa, Hannah, Haleigh, Kody, Kiana, Daniel and Allison; five great-grandchildren, Alex, Gabriel, Shawn, Makenzie and Ella; and one great-great grandchild, Colton James.
She was predeceased by siblings, Eleanor Rowell, Eileen Derushia, John Hand, Leo Hand, Patrick Hand, Harold Lowery, Bernice Dashnaw and Esther Bice.
Ursula was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Pyrites where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother and grandmother.
She enjoyed helping her husband on the old Therman Clarke Dairy Farm; sewing, cooking, vegetable gardening and most notably caring for her children and grandchildren.
