Obituary of Carlton Donald Jamieson

Carleton D. "Jamie" Jamieson, 82, of 37 Riverside Drive, Canton, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at The Grand Nursing Home in Chittenango after a brief stay.

Graveside services will be held privately in Fairview Cemetery, Canton.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Canton Fire & Rescue.

Jamie was born December 14, 1935, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of the late Carleton W. and Isabel (Todd) Jamieson.  He was a 1955 graduate of Hastings-on-Hudson High School and later received his Applied Science Degree in Landscaping from Long Island Agricultural & Technical College in 1957.  He was a member of the National Association of Gardeners while in college.

After college Jamie worked at Rosedale Nurseries and Ravenrock Nurseries in Hawthorne, NY.  Then he worked for Johnston's Gardens in Dobbs Ferry; he moved to Rochester in 1962 and worked at Brookside Nursery in Webster and then Sibley's in Henrietta.  In 1964 he moved to Canton where he worked for A.W. Collins Vending until 1978, where he worked on "juke boxes."  For a short time he worked at Ames Department Store and the Canton Housing Authority, eventually retiring in the early 1980's due to ill health.

He is survived by three cousins, Gary Kelly, Parishville and Malta, Carol Scalise, Rochester, and Barbara Sangiacomo, Fairport.  He will also be remembered by Lisa Wright of Lisbon, his longtime healthcare aid and friend.

Jamie enjoyed talking about the various flowers and bushes blooming in and around Canton.
