Morley—

Michael W. Perkins, 73, of Morley-Lisbon Road, died early Friday, November 30, 2018, at his home while under the care of his loving family.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 3rd from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton.  A Fireman’s Funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 4th at 10 AM with Rev. Richard Ladouceur officiating.  Burial will follow in Morley Cemetery.

Mike was born October 20, 1945, in Ogdenburg, NY.  A son of the late, Leonard J & Evelyn (Delair) Perkins, he graduated Canton High School in 1965.  After high school he worked for Heuvelton Lumber.  He joined the Army reserves and was honorably discharged in Sept 1971.  He then worked as a Contract Hauler for AGWAY Petroleum, Heuvelton as M.W. Perkins, Inc., retiring in mid 2000.  More recently he worked for Greenwood Dairy, driving truck, during harvesting.

On July 5, 1986, he married Cindi Jo Dunn at the Morley Wesleyan Church.

In addition to his wife, Cindi, he is survived by his three children, Travis (Heather) Perkins of Morley, Tonya (Matthew) Seymour of Potsdam and Michael (Amy) Perkins of Morley; two sisters, Charlotte Bush of Oriskany, NY and Mary (Richard) Dawley of Lisbon; a brother, George (Marty) Perkins of Cincinnati, OH; six grandchildren, Jordyn, Garrett, Alexandra and Holden Perkins, Katie Jane and Avery Seymour; and three step-grandchildren, Jasmine, Nakita and Hailee Duvall.

Mike was a member of Morley Cemetery Assoc, where he helped mow the cemetery.  He was most notably a member of Morley Volunteer Fire Department.  He was recently honored for 50 yrs of service on March 24, 2018.  He joined the Morley Fire Dept. in 1968 and served as President, Chief, Asst. Chief, was Fire Commissioner and was a mentor to all department members.

He was also a great woodworker, a collector of die-cast tractors, loved to cook and admired old cars and trucks.  He will be fondly remembered for his dedication to his family and the Morley Fire Department.
