Obituary of Regina A. Budelmann

Regina Budelmann
September 17, 1940 – December 17, 2018
With great sadness, the family of Regina Ann (Cordes) Budelmann announces her
passing on December 17, 2018, at the age of 78. Regina died in her home, in the
presence of her loving family, after battling pancreatic cancer.
Born on September 17, 1940, in New York City, Regina was the daughter of Colonel
Clifford Frederick Cordes, Jr. and Mary Maxine (Kautz) Cordes. She was an “army brat,”
growing up in many places around the world with her brother, sister and parents. She
married Ben Budelmann on January 23, 1965, in Wyoming, Ohio, later settling in
Canton, New York, 42 years ago.
Regina is survived by her loving husband Ben Budelmann, her three sons Scott
(Veronica) Budelmann, Michael (Greta) Budelmann, Kevin Budelmann (Yang Kim), her
brother Clifford Frederick Cordes III (Shelley Brandt), her grandchildren Adriana,
Isabela, Olivia, Andrew, Molly, Bruno, Toki and Lulu, and fourteen grand nieces and
nephews. She also is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Jacobsen, her nieces and
nephews Glenn Luce, Diana Luce, Wayne (Eileen) Luce, Kim Gibson, Sheri Baker,
Wyle (Velvet) Cordes, Natalie Masucci, and Renee (Andrew) Birch. She was
predeceased by her parents, her sister Patricia (William) Sutton, and her sister-in-law,
Joan Luce.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Regina was a caseworker for children, a
substitute teacher and an accomplished horseback riding instructor. She was a mentor
to many young equestrians and their parents. From their farm in Canton, Regina
boarded horses, hosted many riding & community events, served as the coach of the
Potsdam State College Horseback Riding Team, and was the District Commissioner of
a local Pony Club.
A committed Unitarian - Universalist, Regina was a passionate advocate for religious
tolerance, a believer in holistic remedies, and a seeker of good and simple things. She
lived a natural life, thriving among friends on her farm in Northern New York, where she
was a leader in our community. She gave countless hours to the betterment of young
people and will be missed by all.
A celebration of Regina’s life is being planned for this summer. In lieu of flowers, please
