Obituary of Mildred Avis Remington

Canton—

Mildred Avis Remington, 98, a resident of Maplewood Campus, died, Sunday, January 20, 2019.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, January 25 at 11:00 AM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton with Helen St. Louis officiating.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 24 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Pierrepont Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Pierrepont Hill Cemetery.

Mildred was born July 4, 1920, in Pierrepont, NY.  She was a daughter of the late, Rex C. & Retha E. (Hanson) Brown and was a 1938 graduate of Colton Union High School.

On July 16, 1939, she married Doyle E. Remington in Parishville, NY with Rev. Mr. VanValkenburg.  Mr. Remington died Feb 7, 2005.

Surviving are her six children and their spouses, James (Ellen) Remington of Glenfield, NY, Sonja (Wm. Morgan) Hennigan, Sandra (Charles) Davis of Colton, Sally (Rex) Spicer of Colton, Barry (Judith) Remington of Valdese, NC and Brian (Lori) Remington of Colton; eleven grandchildren, Susan, Christopher, Jeffrey, Scott, Trevor, Brandon, Rosina, Jenelle, Jordan, Ashley and Andi-Lynne; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Carrol Brown in 1978 and a daughter, Sherry in 2007.

Mildred was a resident of Pierrepont for 95 years before becoming a resident of Maplewood Campus, Canton.  She was also a member of Home Bureau and TOPS.
