Canton—

Hazel G. Butterfield, 73, of Canton, passed February 20, 2019, after a short battle of cancer, at her home while under the loving care of her family and Hospice & Palliative Care.

Memorial service will be held on March 9th at 11:00 AM at the DeKalb Fire Hall.  Friends may arrive at after 9:00 AM.  Please bring a dish and a memory to pass. 

Hazel was a native of Brier Hill and lived in Canton most recently.

Surviving are her daughters, Julie (Dale Foote) Daniels and Carol (Homer) Matthie; sons, Joseph A. Wing and Fredrick Wing; sister, Pamela J. Butterfield; twin brother, Harry (Brenda Lobello) Butterfield; sister, Verna Barley; brother, Ross (Vivian) Butterfield; brother, Vernon (Pamela) Butterfield and brother, Tony Butterfield; grandchildren, Samantha (Thomas Cota) Butterfield, Elizabeth (Joshua Martin) Daniels, Tiffany Matthie, Adam Matthie, Dustin Matthie, John (Jasmine) Matthie, Nathan Matthie, Christy Wing, Andrew Holmes, Anthony Holmes, Summer Wing, Fredrick Wing, Jr. and Morris Wing; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Arthur Butterfield; two brothers, John and Clifford Butterfield; and two sisters, Iva Meashaw and Martha Laparr.

Hazel loved to spend time with family and friends.  She also loved to crochet, knit, read, sing with her family and can her own foods.

Hazel always shared many words of wisdom with everyone.

Arrangements were under the direction of Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton.
