Canton--

Doris M. Rosenbarker, 88, of 35 Riverside Drive, Canton, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at her home.

Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4,  at 12 Noon at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton with Fr. Art Garno officiating.  The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Canton.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John's Episcopal Church, Ogdensburg.

Doris was born April 20, 1931, in Canton, NY, a daughter of the late, Edward G. & Marion (Gillette) Santimaw.  She was raised by the late, Elizabeth Santimaw.  She attended Canton High School and later received her GED at the age of 30.  

Doris started working at the age of 13.  She babysat, worked at the American Theatre and for Santimaw's Store.  She later worked for Canton Central School in food service and then for the Best Western for ten years as a housekeeper.  In Jan of 2000 she worked at Comfort Suites in Canton until she retired in 2004.  

On July 12, 1949, she married the late, Elwyn Rosenbarker in the First Presbyterian Church of Canton with Rev. Ernest Ellis as celebrant.  Elwyn sadly passed June 20, 2004.

Doris is survived by her four children, Cheryl (Roger) Morgan of Lisbon, JoAnn (Byron) York of Eldred, PA, Dawn Dyer of CO and Lon (Lori) Rosenbarker of AZ; half brother, Robert (Gail) Santimaw of Canton; half-sister, Marcia Bouissey of Malone; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, ALice Lehman and two brothers, Paul & James Santimaw.

Doris was a past member of the Universalist Church and Grace Episcopal Church, starting in 1974.  She was confirmed in 1978 and enjoyed helping in the office in the early 2000's.  She was in the Vestry for 40 years and was also a Daughter of the King.

Doris was a great knitter and crocheted many prayer shawls, she was a constant reader and word search gal and took great pride in her church work.  She was also very fond of her cat, "KeKe".
