Obituary of Thelma D. Miller

Thelma D. Miller, 85, of Wells Street died July 1, at her home while under Hospice care. Mrs. Miller was born in Massena, a daughter of Thomas and Susan Dershian. She graduated from Massena High School, later attending CCBI of Syracuse. She and William O. Miller were married in St. Johns Episcopal Church in Massena Dec 18, 1960. Mrs. Miller was a bookkeeper for a few years at Reynolds Metals, and for many years at WPDM radio until her retirement.
Survivors in addition to her husband William of Canton are a daughter Nazaly (John) Rossie of Holly Springs, NC, a son William B. (Julie) Miller of Canton, five grandchildren: Amanda, Nathan, and Ian Miller of Canton and Madeliene and Caleb Rossie of North Carolina; two sisters: Rose Dershian of Grand Island, NY and Mary Mick of Riverside, CA., brother-in-law Gordon Hill of Arizona, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Nazaly Hill.
Thelma enjoyed golf, playing in the St. Lawrence Country Club Women’s League for many years, was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and playing bridge. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will surely be missed by family and community alike.
A memorial service will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton, Monday July 7 at 2:15 with Rev. Michael Terrell officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the start of the service. Those who wish may make donations to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley, PO Box 469, Potsdam, NY 13676.
