My thoughts and prayers go out to the Sibbits Family at this time. Ortha's contributions through the farm family she raised and all of her numerous beloved avocations make the North Country a place like no other.

Dear Ron & Family,
I was so saddned to learn of Ortha's passing. I had been staying at camp with no paper, etc. and only learned the news when I returned to Canton due to the power outage. I missed seeing you at the calling hours but did make the beautiful service. I wasn't able to stay for the dinner after so I missed seeing you there. I was shocked to hear the nerws because I didn't even realize that she had been sick. I had missed the last several men's breakfasts.
Ortha was a very special person who reminded me so much of my Mother. When Norma and I transfered our membership to The Canton United Methodist it was you and Ortha that made us feel right at home. I have so many fond memories of our relationship like the many church dinners, the country music concerts, the dairy farm, the many church services are to only mention a few. It was always a joy to see her smiling face which will live on with me for the rest of my life.
My heart goes out to you and your family. Ken

Ron and family,
I was so sorry to hear Ortha had passed away; I had just read the article on her and her long lost soroity sister when she was a patient at Canton Potsdam Hospital. I remember thinking how wonderful that they should re-unite after all those years.
When I think of Ortha I see her with curlers in her hair, checking out all her plants in the front yard as I drive by to work in the morning; it always made me smile. I once took blackberries down to her that we picked in Russell and in conversation she told me that Ron was her rock. I suspect that she was the glue that held everything together. Ortha was a kind, loving women who will be missed greatly by family and friends. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss.

May it warm your heart to know what a blessing Ortha was to so many. We made and shared some fun memories recently while serving together on Closer Walk 100. She truly loved the Lord and had a servants heart. May it bring you peace to know she is home with the Lord; and that you will be re-united one day. I am continuing to lift you and your family in prayer.

Walking into church will never be quite the same. If I was bringing a pie for a dinner or helping to serve, Ortha was always there. No matter how hot it was in the kitchen or how long she had been on her feet, she always greeted me with a huge smile.
If I was walking into the sanctuary she would come over and greet me. I knew Ortha for over 40 years yet it seems like just a moment. Her presence at Book Club meetings enriched the experience so much. She had so many great stories and experiences to share.
Her dedication to UMW and the ministries of the church will never be forgotten.
She will be missed beyond measure.
May God bless you in this difficult time and may the memories you shared with her give you peace.

We met Ortha as she and Ron were preparing their home before moving in when they left the farm. We were checking our new mailbox by thier driveway and she, simply, began talking to us as, if she knew us. I love that sort of open informality! She and Ron helped us in so many ways when the lights were out in January, 1998. In 2003 when my wife stopped working out it was Ortha who did the most to help her become involved in Church and other activities. For years I've looked at the caller ID and just pointed across the road as it was generally Ortha and not usually for me. She provided the key factor that enabled me to surprise my wife on our 25th anniversary. Her presence did a great deal to make a small cluster of houses into a neighborhood. From what I saw of her and knew of her, Ortha never got old. I feel as if we've lost family! I feel so sad for what they all went through these past couple of weeks. May God truly be with you all. Thank you Ortha.
