We wish we had known Al better. We visited him as volunteers at the Highland in his last months. He had a sharp mind, and I enjoyed our conversations. They were too brief!

So so sorry to hear about Al. I always enjoyed our talks on the street or in the coffee house below the Pear Tree. He was quite gifted and I am sure will be missed by all the family members. Remember, no one can take away your memories of the good times. And someday you will smile when you think of him. Linda

To Richard and the Cassara family,
Arlene and I would like to share our most heartfelt condolences to you all on the death of Alfred. We have both known loss of family, and we know the hole that such loss has torn in our lives - we can only imagine that your loss is similar. You know that any suffering Alfred may have endured is now completed; your grief will become more manageable over time, and will turn into memories of him that you will share with each other.
We will keep Alfred and your entire family in our prayers.

Dear Debra, Rich, Rick, Pat and Cassara family,
With his sharp mind, wit and his gentle heart, always tuned into sports and political news, our dear friend ever since coming to Canton, Al is in our prayers and thoughts. Al used to come down to our Main Street Partridge Coffee Den, below The Pear Tree, for his daily lunch. Dressed in suit and tie, Al had his daily lunch-time ritual with our staff. Seated on the couch in front of the fireplace, reading the New York Daily News, and never needing to order his expected mug of chili, sandwich and coffee. And Al never had to ask staff to wake him from his brief after-lunch power nap, so he could return to work. They knew the routine! We would see Al make his daily rounds at the popular Morgan's Ice House, picking up the day's take, and his late night brotherly help at the college watering hole, The Tick Tock, a community institution. Well-read and self-effacing, Al brings us many positive memories. Love, Marilyn and Brad

Dear Rick and Family: Please accept my very heartfelt condolences at this time of dark sadness in your lives. I felt honored that you introduced your Brother to me and I never forgot that afternoon in Potsdam when I was on the beat. It was so evident always, how proud you were of each other. I trust that you have ever so many, great memories of your Brother, that you all cherish, and that those memories, will possibly give you and yours comfort in the years to come. Best, RICK
