CANTON – Judy Ann Clark Guyette,69, of 4850 County Route 27, Canton, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29th from 12-2:00 PM at the family home. A time of prayer will immediately follow led by Rev. Martha Helmer. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lawrence Funeral Home in Canton. Judy was born in Potsdam on April 21, 1945, the daughter of the late to Clyde and Thelma (Selleck) Clark. She grew up in Hannawa Falls and graduated from Potsdam High School in 1963. Judy married Alton "Ike" Guyette on January 1, 1991, at the Pierrepont Fire Hall. Judy earned a Clerk-Typist certificate from SUNY Canton in 1971 and Associate in Applied Science degrees in Individual Studies in 1977 and in Business Administration in 1979. She began her career at SUNY Canton in 1970 as a typist in the Student Activities Office and retired in 2002 after 32 years of service as Senior Staff Assistant reporting to the Vice President for Administration. She continued her service to SUNY Canton for several years by working part-time in various offices in order to establish the Clark-Guyette Internship Assistance Program Endowment in 2008 which provides financial assistance through interest-free loans to students who are completing their internships. Judy joined the Canton College Foundation Board of Directors in September 2013 and has been active on various Foundation committees. She was inducted into the SUNY Canton Hall of Fame Century Club on Friday, July 20, 2012. During the 1970s and 1980s, Judy was an advisor and housemother for the Alpha Chi Omicron sorority. She was also a bartender at the Hoot Owl in Canton where she became close friends with many SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University students. She enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, and spending time with her granddaughter, Elizabeth. Judy is survived by her husband, Alton "Ike" of Pierrepont; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Clark and Kimberly Dickson of Appleton, WI; three step-daughters, Robin Guyette, Ogdensburg; Michelle Blackmer, Russell; Bonnie (Richard) Miller, Russell; her granddaughter Elizabeth Clark, Appleton, WI; three step-grandchildren, Allen Michael Blackmer, Alex Guyette and Skyler Sanford; her sister, Eleanor Morgan, Potsdam; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Clark, Thornton, CO; several nieces and nephews; and some special friends who will always hold their memories of Judy deep within their hearts. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edward Clark, and her brother-in-law, Donald Morgan. The family would like to sincerely thank the following people who were so caring and compassionate during her battle with cancer: Dr. Howard Gold and Ryan Garfield, PA, the nurses and staff at the Potsdam Center for Cancer Care, the team at Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, the nurses and staff at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and Dr. Gregory Healey.
