Obituary of Robert John Williams

Robert John “Bob” Williams, 63, of Gouverneur Street, Canton, died Wed., June 3, 2015 at his home while under the loving care of his wife and Hospice. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 7th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton. His funeral service will follow at 2:15 PM with Rev. Tom Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Rensselaer Falls Cemetery. Bob was born Feb 22, 1952 in Glens Falls, NY a son of the late John C. & Margaret (Dullahan) Williams. He graduated from Glenns Falls High School and later from Seaway Tech BOCES in Potsdam where he studied Forestry. He was also a veteran of the US Army, serving as an “M.P.” in Korea during Vietnam. On July 22, 2007 he married Evelyn Mae Beebe Matthews at their home on Gouverneur Street. He was employed as a Bus Driver for St. Lawrence County NYSARC in Canton for the last 11 years before becoming ill. Surviving are his wife Evelyn of Canton; his step-son, Ryan David Denny, US Army, Ft. Stewart, GA; two sisters, Judy (Larry) Cook of North Creek, NY and Linda (Kenny) Slentz of Earlville, NY; as well as, several nieces and nephews. Bob loved to work outdoors, he was meticulous about his flower gardens and his lawn. He also liked to read, collected Sponge Bob and was an avid Giants Football Fan. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, St. Lawrence County NYSARC or to St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund.
