Obituary of Kathlyn F Beal

Kathlyn F. “Kathy” Beal, 57, of Malone and formerly of Canton, NY, died in her sleep on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at her home.

A private ceremony will be held for the family.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Church & Community Program in Canton.

Kathy was born in Massena, NY and became the daughter of Carolyn Lockwood O’Connor and the late Daniel Wm. O’Connor, Jr.  She graduated Canton High School in 1979 and furthered her studies at Potsdam State University.

Surviving in addition to her mother, are her two daughters, Annastasia Rose Beal of CA and Elisabeth Luctretia “Ellie” Southhall of England; a brother, Dan (Kimberley) O’Connor, III of MA and a granddaughter, Samantha “Sammi” Welti.  She is also survived by her biological parents, Gary LaJoie and Sharon Freeman.

She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Wm. O’Connor, Jr. who died April 2013.

Kathy worked as a substitute teacher in the Malone area and loved to sing in the Gospel Choir at St. Lawrence University.  Kathy had a heart of gold, helping those less fortunate than her.  She was a very good cook and loved spending time with family and friends.  

When younger, she enjoyed spending time on the St. Lawrence River on Pilot Island, boating, fishing and lazy days on the water.  She was an avid equestrian, winning numerous ribbons.  She also enjoyed camping, doing crafts and her herb garden.

Her daughters were the love of her life, she was loved deeply by those closest to her and will be missed dearly.
