Obituary of Patricia Ann Trombley

Canton- Patricia “Pat” Ann Trombley, 80, of Buck Street, Canton died Sunday, January 12, 2020, while under the care of her loving daughters. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Canton. Her funeral will be Friday, January 17 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Carolyn Bartkus officiating. Burial will be held in the spring, at the convenience of the family, in Fairview Cemetery, Canton. Pat was born April 14, 1939 in Canton, NY to Melvin Carmel Stover and Myrtle Webster (Wood) Stover. She graduated Canton High School in 1958 and furthered her education at SUNY Morrisville in Nursing. On January 23, 1960 she married the late Franklin J. Trombley, Jr. in St. Mary’s Church, Canton. It was a special day for Frank as it was his 24th birthday. Pat retired from nursing in 1992 from Moongate Nursing Home, Canton, where she was an LPN starting in 1974. She previously worked in Holyoke, Massachusetts; Plattsburgh Air Force Base, Plattsburgh, NY; Barlow's Nursing Home, Canton,NY; Air Force Academy, in Colorado. Surviving are her five daughters, Kimberley Trombley of Canton, Kathy (Tom) Matzell of Colton, Karen Layhee of Canton, Keri Trombley of Norfolk and Karolyn Trombley of Canton; five grandchildren, Alicia Trombley; Michael and Colleen Matzell; Emily Trombley and Allison Trombley; a great-grandson, Gabriel Matzell. She will also be fondly remembered by Aunt Gladys Shadwill and cousin Ed Shadwill; as well as other cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin (Dec 8, 1997), her son-in-law, Dean Layhee (July 31, 2012) and her grandson, Brian Trombley (Feb 14, 2018). Pat had a number of hobbies and interests, including: ceramics, shopping, watching Soap Operas, collecting Hummel figurines, raising Chihuahuas, reading Danielle Steele books, traveling, her pet cats and spending precious time with her family and friends. For over 37 years he was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She also organized and worked on Blood Mobiles for the Red Cross at the Canton Municipal Building. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial contribution to Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Potsdam Humane Society or Colton Rescue Squad.
