We enjoyed our time together. A special memory was going to Montreal to pick Jim up from a trip to Malawi. She is/was a special lady.

Thinking of Ruth today and how loving and kind And generous she always was to everyone and her beautiful smile. We first met when she was our mail carrier. She bought blueberries from our garden, shared Perennials ,and Had me paint and wash windows for her. My Mom helped her Mom out too. She welcomed us into her circle and we were happy to be a part of her life. Hugs to Julie and Vickie ,two wonderful daughters .

Ruth has been an inspiration and light of hope. Ruth led by example, taking action to improve quality of life of others. Whether it was advocating, implementing changes, sharing joy and faith. She will forever be remembered by me to fight the good fight. Never give up. Be kind. I am forever grateful for the many lessons of love, empathy, and diligence. Our community has been blessed with an angel in a person suit.
Much love and condolences for family and friends.

I became acquainted with Ruth in the early 2000's when I was starting to research family history. We shared a common ancestor, Woodard D. Selleck and Ruth and Walt had already constructed a family tree going back to the 17th century. They also shared copies of documents relating to Woodard's experience in the Civil War and the acquisition of land in Pierrepont by his second wife, Amanda Parker Cary, property that became the Selleck farm where I grew up.
I also remember Ruth from my early days in 4-H. She was a model of the kind of woman that the 4-H Club wished to develop: devoted to family and community, practical, constructive, and generous. My deepest sympathy to her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It is sad that she did not enjoy a few more good years with them, but she leaves a remarkable legacy.
With respect and affection,
Laura J. Selleck

To the family of Ruth,
I met Ruth only about a year ago while visiting my father at Maplewood. She was not one for sitting still. During my visits, we had numerous enjoyable and informative conversations. My most memorable was one day on my arrival, she was sitting by the front door. I asked her what she was doing. She said she wanted to go to camp. I said I'd love to take to take her, but I'm pretty sure we'd both be in trouble. She looked up at me with that infectious smile and gleam in her eyes and replied "Well, you know,I am a bit of a rebel". In a very short time she captured a bit of my heart. I share your sorrow at her passing, and my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Vickie and Julie, so sorry the pandemic kept us apart. Ruth was such an important part of my early years in Crary Mills on the post road.
I am so glad God brought us back together. I enjoyed seeing her at the nursing home. She always seemed cheery when I talked to her there. She touched so many lives. Thankfully we will see her again.
Love and Prayers

Vicki and Julie - Heartfelt condolences to you both, as well the entire Paroah/McEwen families, in Ruth's passing. A great person I was fortunate enough to have in blessing to my own life. From my early childhood down on the Pollack Rd. family farm where Ruth delivered our mail for many years, always with a smile and wave and sometimes a few moments time to happily entertain a little boy with show-and-tell to his latest toy (sometimes accidentally left in the mailbox) or newest farm pet (also sometimes accidentally left inside the mailbox to Ruth's surprise), to the later years where we reacquainted in her wonderful spirit to reminisce on the history and knowledge of so many great things North Country and beyond, I will miss her dearly as so many others will I'm sure. A wonderful friend with a loving/caring soul always to be remembered. Rest in well deserved eternal peace dear Ruth, with the Lord you so selflessly loved and beared witness to in your life long living and sharing with others. With deepest sympathy; Dan and Renee Dominie

I am so sorry to the family for your loss. I have fond memories of spending time with Ruth and the Oakes/Pomainville family. I enjoyed my time with Ruth on our trip to Disney world, on a speed boat looking for Manatees in Homosassa, during margarita nights, and while playing games that she always seemed to win. She will be missed. Virtual hugs to you all and hopefully someday I can give real ones. Best wishes during this time. Love, Courtnie
