Flora C. (Conca) Clark 1924 – 2021 ️
Mrs. Flora C. (Conca) Clark, age 96 1/2, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 5 May 2021 in Canton, NY, with her daughter Leslie by her side and those she loved most in her heart.
Born in Utica, NY on 21 October 1924, Flora was the daughter of the late Louis and Philomena (DeNicola) Conca. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1942 and she received Masters Degrees in French and Spanish from The Albany State Teachers College. She taught at Sherrill High School in Sherrill, NY where she met the love of her life, Charles Herbert (Charlie) Clark. She later taught at the Vernon, Verona, Sherrill (VVS) Central High School. Flora and Charlie were married on 19 Aug 1949 in St. Agnes Church in Utica, NY. Brought together through their mutual interest in education and their lifelong love of their Christmas Tree Farm in Western NY, they were an inspiration to their three children and three grandchildren. Charlie died on 28 August 1987.
True to her name, Flora loved flowers, especially roses, and lived in the Clark family home in the welcoming community of Sherrill, NY for over 65 years. She was a wonderful mom to Bob, Leslie and Lisa and they made her very proud. She was a fine cook, and their home was always the gathering place. She and Charlie practiced their Christian Faith in the Gethsemane Episcopal Church in Sherrill, and as a passionate reader, she was a lifelong user of the Sherrill Public Library. She loved travel and often spoke of her enjoyable trips to Europe. Her legacy lies in her love for her children and her grandchildren, and her loving engagement with her entire family was strong through the very last days of her life.
Flora is survived by her son Robert (Sheila) Clark and daughters Leslie Clark (Peter Feickert) and Lisa (Jonathan) Van Houtte; her three adored grandchildren, Haley Feickert (Andrew Leiser), Robert Jared Clark (Alex Pommier) and Brooke Clark Keating (Guy Sergent), and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her deeply loved sister Rosemary (David) Bevivino.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the United Helpers Assisted Living Program in Canton, NY for their exceptionally professional care and love provided to Flora during her stay.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life Memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to United Helpers Assisted Living of Canton, NY.
