Obituary of Myron Melvin Fry

Myron Melvin Fry, 79, of Clare, NY, died Monday, Nov 2, 2015, at United Helpers Riverledge in Ogdensburg, where he was a resident since July of 2012. The family will receive friends at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton on Thursday, Nov. 5th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. His funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 6th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Jon Frary officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Clare. Myron was born on March 30, 1936 in Potsdam, NY, a son of the late Clifford M. and Beulah M. (Colton) Fry. He graduated from Knox Memorial in 1954 and on July 2, 1955, he married Iris J. Moore at the Hermon United Methodist Church with Rev. Heatherington as celebrant. He worked for the Town of Clare prior to working for J&L Steel in Star lake as a Crusher Operator from 1954-1978. After the closing of J&L, he worked Security for Morris Security in Ogdensburg. He also was a Councilman and served as Assessor for the Town of Clare. He was past member of DCSR Fire Department, Life Member of the Clare Fish & Game Club, past member of the Edwards Lion's Club, member of the Degrasse United Methodist Church where he served on the board and was past member of DeKalb/ Hermon as well as Colton Senior Citizen's. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Iris of Clare; two daughters and their husband's, Darlene & Leo Bristol of Hermon and Deborah & the late Gene Bishop of Hermon; six grandchildren, Joshua & Matthew Fry, Kimberly Farrow & Whitney Bishop and Dylan Flight & Crystal Daniels. He is also survived by a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Myron enjoyed the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, riding motorcycle and cherished time at camp with family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe sent to any of the churches of the Seven Steeples or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
