I met Jeanne around 1963 while going to college in Warrensburg MO and staying several times at her parents. Caroline Bodman was the sister of my grandmother Augot Hettelsater Brackney originally from Miss, Norway.
Jeanne said she and her husband Max designed the electrical systems for the Big Max power shovel. She said the guys in engineering at KU resented her as the first woman to graduate in engineering from there, but she wouldn’t give up.
Carrie’s brother Anton designed a huge number of grain elevators from the 20’s to the 60’s. Her brother Henry was an inventor in the electrical field, my grandmother Augot weighed 20 ounces at birth, but they knew how to use a wood range as a makeshift incubator. 8 kids in the family and since the mother Elise was sick a lot, my grandmother did much to raise the family.
The women in that family have been exceptional, and Jeanne certainly was.
