Obituary of Laura M. Sharpstene

Laura M. Sharpstene, 86, formerly of Russell, died peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at The Lutheran Care Home in Clinton, New York. Laura was born in Harrisville, NY in May of 1935, to Charlotte and Alton Mallette. Laura was one of ten children. She attended the Oswegatchie School. She married Raymond Sharpstene on January 18, 1952. The couple resided in Russell, where she was a homemaker. Mr. Sharpstene died in February of 1990. Survivors include her four sons, Raymond Jr. and Connie of Wake Forest, N.C., David and Lynn of Raleigh, N.C., Ricky and Norma of Rome, N.Y., Michael and Dawn of Theresa, N.Y. Also, she is survived by her brother William and Joyce of Erie, P.A., sisters Alberta Jenks of Governeur, N. Y., and Bonnie Hart of Harrisville, N.Y., eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Laura enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts, playing “Bunko”, doing puzzles, and dancing. Funeral services will be held at Lawrence Funeral Home, 21 Park Street, Canton, N.Y. Tuesday April 26 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be later in the spring at Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare, N.Y. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM the day of funeral service. Those who wish may make donations to St. Jude’s Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, T.N. 38105.
