Dear Julie and the whole family,
Just found out about your mother and wanted to offer my sincere condolences for the loss of this wonderful woman who was such a good friend to my mother. I can still see them sitting at our kitchen table having coffee. By the time I moved there and really got to know her my father was not well and my mother really needed the support that she provided. We visited her many times at Trout Lake also. I think of her with great fondness and miss those Hermon days so much.
Sincerely, Jane Sandwick Williams

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Margaret Vining. Margaret was instrumental in initiating the proposal for a PTA program at SUNY Canton. She was the Dean at the time that I was hired to teach in the program over 25 years ago and I will always be grateful to her for giving me the opportunity to pursue a career in academia. I will always remember her as a woman of great integrity, as a role model and mentor for so many faculty, including myself, and for her sincere passion for education and teaching the next generation of healthcare providers. I always enjoyed seeing her at college gatherings after she was retired – to hear about her newest interests and all of the wonderful stories of her family whom it was evident she loved and cared for so deeply. She was truly a beautiful soul. My sincerest sympathies to you all. Deb Molnar

One of the highlights of so many Sunday mornings years ago was the excitement I felt as we headed off to church at Fowler Baptist. Upon arrival, I immediately would seek out Maggie to offer her a "hello hug" and listen as she often would tell me of her travels the week prior! She was such a positive light to so many, and my girls were so awed by the fact that her husband was my doctor when I was a young child. She was truly an inspiration to so many of us in that small congregation. I have often times thought of her through the years since I left the North Country, and while my heart aches for your loss, I celebrate her passing into the arms of Jesus!
My best to you all; she was a remarkable woman!

Thank you, Jennifer for your wonderful tribute! I just wanted to make one small correction.....her husband, Bill, was a truck driver. Her father-in-law, Judson, was the doctor. ( - : I hope this finds you well. Thanks for your kind words.

Thank you most kindly Jenn! What a sweet and very "Maggie" memory. I was picturing her doing that as I read it. Her church family was very special to her and such a comfort after our Dad died. We were richly blessed to have both of them and Grandpa Vining to guide and love us on life's path. Be well! Carrie Vining Heffron

To Margaret's Family : We wish to express sincere condolences to Margaret's family at this time of loss. Dan and I were lucky to have worked with Margaret for over 30 years at SUNY Canton. Her dedication to student learning was legendary and support of faculty evident in all she did and her willingness to further her own education by pursuing various avenues of education set an example for colleagues. One of my favorite times was the weekend Margaret and I decided to travel to Albany together on the spur of the moment to visit our respective relatives. I think we only took our toothbrushes and a change of clothes and were met initially by her grandaughter who had just baked chocolate chip cookies for us and her grandson who taught me to play "where in the world is Marco". Margaret frequently spoke of her children and grandchildren and her love for them was so evident to all she encountered at work. She will be missed by so many. Sincerely, Linda Fay
