Canton— Helen C. Randi, 88, of Janes Road, Canton died March 23, 2016 at her home while under the care of her loving family and Hospice & Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 31st from 4-7 PM at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton. Her funeral service will be Friday, April 1st at 10:30 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Canton with Rev. Michael P. Catanzaro officiating. Burial will be held privately in Evergreen Cemetery. Born July 3, 1927, in the Town of Potsdam, she was a daughter of the late Nelson A. & Margaret (Buffham) Maybee. She graduated Canton High School and later from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. On November 4, 1948, she married her beloved Joseph A. Randi at the NYC Supreme Court with Judge Hecht as celebrant. The couple were married 67 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Margaret (Jim) Pansch of Minneapolis, MN, Mary Detrick of Chicago, IL, Anthony (Ruth) Randi of Garden City, NY and Matthew (Linda) Randi of Canton; a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Randi of Canton; a sister, Barbara Gaines of Canton; her grandchildren, Helen, Cyrus & Abraham; Kathleen, Timothy, Matthew, Andrew & Scott; Joseph & Jessica; William & Chesney and Matthew & Shawntel and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, J.A. “Joe” Randi, who died May 7, 2015 and by her brother, Jack Maybee, who died December 2007. Helen was a member of the Community Church of Garden City, Long Island and First Presbyterian Church of Canton. She especially took great pride in raising and supporting her family. She was active in P.T.A., while living in Garden City, a Cub Scout & Girl Scout Leader and attended her children’s numerous sporting events. In addition to her family she enjoyed golfing at Cherry Valley Country Club in Garden City, NY, Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice Club in Venice, FL and St. Lawrence Golf & Country Club. She was an avid bridge player and she also loved to travel and work in her garden.
