Obituary of Thomas Lee Jenison

Canton-- Thomas L. “Tom” Jenison, age 77 passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2023 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Hospice.

    Tom was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Corlis and Betty Tremlett Jenison.  He was a graduate of SUNY Brockport.  Tom taught History in Rochester area schools and later Reading at Hermon Dekalb Central School.  He left teaching to open Jenison's Books and Antiques located on Gouverneur Street, Canton.

     Tom was a past Master of Masonic Lodge 111, Canton.  He served on the St. Lawrence County Planning Board for many years and was active in local politics. 

     Tom is survived by his wife Liz, two sons, Lee (Hilary) of Hingham MA, Matthew (Chelcey) of Potsdam, NY, three sisters, Susan (Samuel) Weinstein of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Deborah (John) Diehl of Homosassa, FL and Virginia Jenison of Gainesville, FL.  He is also survived by five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

     A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Best Western University Inn, 90 East Main Street, Canton, NY from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
