Canton— Lloyd R. Beaudin, 88, of Riverside Drive, Canton, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19th at 10:30 am at the Canton United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael H. Terrell officiating. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery. Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services is handling memorial arrangements. Lloyd was born December 22, 1927, in Canton, NY a son of the late, Joseph & Verda (Arquitt) Beaudin. He was raised in Canton and attended local schools before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served from May of 1946 to December of 1947. In 1953, he married Joyce “Peggy” Rider in Pennsylvania and on Oct. 25, 1973, the couple renewed their vows in Malone with Rev. E. Kendall Scouten as celebrant. In addition to his wife, “Peggy”, he is survived by his children, Gary (Val) of Florida, Joe (Barbara) of Virginia, Scott (Tammy) of Canton, Melody Beaudin of Winthrop, Albert of S.C. and Kelly (Jessica) of Madrid; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Joseph Beaudin; his mother, Verda R. Bailey; step-father, Carlton “Bud” Bailey; a brother, Joseph “Buddy” Beaudin and a grandson, Duane Adam Beaudin. Prior to his retirement, Lloyd ran the Canton Superette on Court Street and later the Western Auto Parts Store in Potsdam. He worked as a self-employed contractor for a time and was the Sexton for Canton United Methodist Church. He also ran Lloyd’s Window Fashions and United Rubber Stamp business out of the family home on Buck Street. He also enjoyed making woodcrafts, where he would sell them at area shows. Lloyd also was interested in building and remodeling, fishing with his family, watching sports and spending precious time with his family and grandchildren. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Canton United Methodist Church Building Fund.
