Christine and family--My husband and I just learned of Jean's death this afternoon from a friend. We were colleagues at Canton Potsdam Hospital from 1984 until Jean retired from her hospital practice. It was a small physician group then and the family doctors covered for each other. I saw her occasionally when I visited some of the residential homes in the county after that. She was a very caring physician. Our sympathy to all the family. I wish I had known yesterday as I would definitely come to Lawrence's to say this I person to all of you. Sincerely, Dr. Sandra A. McCloy and Dr. John E. Dewar

I spent so much of my teen years at the Leek house. Many overnights as youth group or just hanging out with Susie and her sisters. Both Jean and Jerry poured their life into so many people.Never thought of themselves first but others. All the hiking that I still have a love for came from them both.Jesus was first.I will always remember them.So blessed they were in my life.I know she is seeing Jesus face to face

Jean and Jerry were my landlords in the late 70s. My elder daughter was born while we lived in half of their house. Jean was my GP and a good friend. I have happy memories of ski weekends at “our” house, when folks from First Baptist Church in Canton would bring their X-country skis and food to share. We would wax our skis according to the weather and snow conditions, place pots full of soup on the wood stove, and set off on the trails that Jerry had created and kept groomed. Such fond memories of a lovely couple!

It was my good fortune to have had the opportunity to work with and for Jean in both the Emergency Department of CPH and part-time at the SUNY Potsdam Student Health Center. Jean was always down to earth, approachable, and very patient-centered. Her dedication to those she served was exemplary and an inspiration to those who worked with her. Her memory will always be treasured.

Christine, Melanie, Stephanie...I'm so sorry! Until recently I saw your mom pretty regularly at the Village Diner, where we both liked to go for lunch. We always chatted a little bit at those times -- mostly about kids and grandkids! She was really proud of all of you! I met your mom and dad back in the early 1970s when both your dad and my husband Steve were working for Attorney Bill Krebs. I never knew her as a doctor -- rather as a fellow lawyer's wife. I always liked her (and him). I'll be thinking about you in the days ahead. Karen Easter (Hollis's mom)

I had the honor of working with Dr.Leek for many years at CPH. She was always kind to patients, families and the staff. Her medical care was always considerate and exceptional.
In 1978 we had a major snow storm in Potsdam. Dr.. Leek cross-country skied to the hospital to do her rounds. Dedicated, remarkable.
Bless you Dr. Leek
