Obituary of Patricia Irene Rickett
Canton, NY-
Patricia Irene (Wheeler) Rickett, 80, of Canton passed away at Rochester General Hospital, while in the comfort of her family, on Friday, August 2, 2024.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Her funeral service will begin at Noon with Lay Pastor Skip Edie officiating. Additional off-street parking is available behind “LUNA” at 18 Park Street.
Burial will be in Beech Plains Cemetery in West Pierrepont.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Lawrence County Cancer Fund.
Pat was born February 29, 1944 in Ogdensburg, NY. She was a daughter of the late Albert and Edith “Bev” (Young) Wheeler and was a graduate of Knox Memorial School, Russell in 1962.
She had been married to the late Larry Matthews, Hugh Ashley and Howard Rickett.
Pat enjoyed caring for her home and her cat. She has been a member of the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department and also worked for a time at St. Lawrence University in food service, as well as, at Moongate Nursing Home and United helpers ICF in Rensselaer Falls as an aide.
She was also predeceased by a son Charles “Chucky” Matthews, a grandson Ryan Porter, a brother Wayne Wheeler, two sisters Beverly Jean Grant and Diane Brown; and a great-grandson Atlas Bleau.
Surviving are her four children: Kathy Porter and companion Donald Ashlaw of Canton, Kimberly Matthews of Canton, Dan Matthews and wife Carrie of Canton and Jamie Matthews and wife Kim of Hermon; and a sister Karen Bjork and husband Charles of Canton. She will also be remembered by numerous grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Brittany, Dan, Kendra, Kirstie, Miranda, Andrew, Chelsea, Dustin, Adam, Dillion, Bailey and Chad, as well as, a number of great-grandchildren: Sophie, Ava, Leah, Kaylin, Autumn, Landon, Kylie, Emma, Cora, Callie, Maddie, Kendryk, Aries, Marcella, Kaylee, Wyatt, Addy, Asher, Owen, Quinten, Eli, Isaiah, Ryker, Holt and Sophia.
Pat was an animal lover, loved birds, her cat, reading Amish books, doing puzzles and watching Westerns. But her true joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
