Sam and Maria will always hold a special place in my heart. We spent many nights and hours at the restaurant eating pizza, drinking cola, and playing foosball. As I grew older my children learned to live their pizza and other Italian food and wings and pizza rolls.
After Maria was gone I would go in to pick up my order and set with Sam at His table and talk and reminisce.
I am thankful their children are continuing to run the business. I remember Pat about 5 and Frank about 3 running around the restaurant while we played foosball and jute box.
A great family in Canton.

To the entire Sergi and Spagnolo family, heartfelt condolences from myself and my wife Bridget. I worked at Sergi's in Potsdam for over a decade and fondly remember Sam and countless family members coming in for various events and occasions with Sam and Carmella. Mr. Sergi was always willing to talk to anyone and everyone from employees to patrons. I made a point of stopping to the Canton Sergi's whenever I could for some pizza with friends.

To my family, Lisa, Pat, Frank, Mikey entire Sergi and Spagnolo family. I am truly heartbroken to hear the passing of a great amazing, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and my cousin Sam. I'm so greatful for my cousin Sam that tough me so much about horse when I was a little girl. I will continue to cherish for the rest of my days until I see him again. I love them so much the closest to ever having a horse, is when i purchased a 4 foot life size hand carved maple horse back in the day. Everytime I clean it I thought of Sam.❤️❤️Memories of coming to the restaurant and the family get together we shared all of these year, will never be forgotten. Resting peace Sam you will be greatly missed by so many of us. Thank you for being amazing person you have always been, and thank you for teaching the love horses. You had a very huge impact on my life and although we live far apart in different countries, you have always been part of my daily life in my home since i was a little girl, so thank you❤️❤️❤️

What a lovely man. When I was a student at SUNY Potsdam one Christmas, I was among the last to leave town to go home to family. A few friends and I went to Sergi’s for dinner and the Sergi family was sharing a meal together nearby. When they were passing around cookies for dessert, they came to our table and included us. I will never forget that act of generosity. God Bless the family and our community for the loss of Sam.

I worked for the Sergis in the mid 80's for a few years. I, and everyone else I knew, quickly developed a fondness for Mary and Sam and their children. They were gracious, hardworking, and easy to work for. Mary was a legend in Canton and was well respected and well like by all. Sam was a quiet, steady influence and a good businessman.
I remember one night, he had come back from a race towing a trailer with a horse inside. He had been driving for awhile and the horse was a little agitated and began kicking inside the trailer. Would have scared me to death to go in there to calm him down, but Sam was fearless. He stepped in and calmed the horse with little effort. That was always my impression of him. He quietly, but effectively, got the job done.
My sincere condolences to all the Sergi and Vecchio families.
