Roger F. Ordway, 76, of Cty 29, Pierrepont, died December 12, 2016, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital after being admitted earlier.
Graveside services will be held privately for the family in Beech Plains Cemetery with Frank Carter officiating and Military Honors provided by Canton VFW Post #1231.
Roger was born, June 21, 1940, in the Town of Alexandria, NY. He was a son of the late Oscar & Alice (Naylor) Ordway and attended Degrasse School and later received his GED through Edwards-Knox and received his diploma with the Class of ______. In 1957 he enlisted in the US Air Force serving until 1965.
He was employed as a truck driver most of his life, driving for Potter's Industries, SMX, independently as R&J Trucking for LTI and later for Kinney Drugs.
On a stormy day, January 24, 1982, he married Joyce Rood Locke in the Crary Mills Church with Rev. Jack Wells as celebrant. The couple were married nearly 35 years.
His is survived by his wife Joyce of Pierrepont; his children, Karen Ordway Kain, Danny, David and Kenny Ordway and Thomas, Rick and Robert Locke; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Locke in April of 2013 as well as, siblings, Donald and Robert Ordway and Josephine Gay.
Roger was a member of the Canton VFW Post #1231 and the Motorcycle Club the "Re-Treads". He could fix anything. He was a welder, mechanic, wood-worker and loved to barter. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and ice-fishing, road trips on his motorcycle, deep-sea fishing in Florida and flying remote control planes with the Airplane Club in Ogdensburg.
