To the loving family of the late chester j. olmstead . My name is Charlie Ketz I was in the U.S.Navy Seabees from 1973 to 1978 and if this is the same person we all new him as JACK ! I served with him on NAV.FAC.GRAND TURK B.W. I. from 1974 to 75 and we were roomates shipmates and the very best of friends and worked in the public works garage together and had more fun than you could ever imagine .Jack was a real character and a real joker and prankster .I remember himriding onto base one day on the back of a wild jackass as they roomed free on the island and he rode in with this straw hat on tied the mule up outside the enlisted men's bar where we all spent a good deal of our time . He was hilarious and looked to me at times to keep him in line.Never a dull moment and our other room mate Dan Engle came aboard a little later on but we both enjoyed having Jack around so much me the most cause I served with jack the longest and finally came the day that Jack was to ship out and we saw him off at the airport and there wasn't a dry eye .We were losing a great comrade and Friend and I will never forget him and thinkof him often and how he always made me laugh! My last letter from was from Nantuckett island where he was stationed and then as time went by we lost contact as I was shipped to a SEABEE Battallion in Gulfport ,Ms. So as years go by and we wonder what became of our old friends I find with such sorrow that I waited too long to find Jack and will miss him forever !! My most heartfelt sympathy and sorrow to all of you and know there are no words that can beguile you from your great loss of Father ,Husband and Friend .I wish you all the best and share the memories you of jack as I will.
Sincerely , Charlie Ketz ,Litchfield,Ct.

We didn't get to know you very well, but we do know how much you were loved by your family. Especially your dear mother. She misses you something terrible, but I'm sure she is glad that you're done suffering. Your family will also miss your presence at their family gatherings. We love you, too.
