On July 24, 1992, he married Denise J. Sharpstene at their home in the Town of Pierrepont with Justice of the Peace Mary Griffin as celebrant.
He was most recently employed as a mechanic for Casella, where he was well respected. Previously, he was owner/ operator of Fountain Trucking; worked for Harry Harmer Construction and St. Lawrence Zinc.
Dean was a member of the Clare Hunting Club and Boondockers Snowmobile Club.
In addition to his mother, Dean is survived by his wife Denise; his children, Charmaine (Paul) MacKay, Tom (Mary ) Sharpstene and Angie Smith, all of Russell; his beloved grandchildren, Gage, Sydney, Cooper, Devan, Tyler, Kali and Kaden; his siblings and their spouses, Reggie of Edwards, Donnie & Debbie of Russell, Steve & Noelle and Rita & “Thunder” Thornton of Edwards; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dean enjoyed life. He was an avid fisherman, fishing whenever and wherever he could with friends on the ice and from his pontoon boat. He was an accomplished hunter, enjoying time in the woods with friends and family. He followed NASCAR and would travel to New Bremen and Watkins Glenn to see the races. In his earlier days enjoyed working with horses and going to “Horse Pulls.” He also enjoyed his dogs, horseshoes, sugaring and camping, whether at Blake, Parmeter or at Denny Warren’s Cabin, where he treasured time spent with family and many dear friends. He loved his grandchildren immensely ! He was ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand and was a “giver “ by nature, never wanting anything in return. He was quick witted and always had a joke.
Dean was a model man, he loved his family, he had a strong work ethic and enjoyed life! In a word, Dean was FUN!
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Boondocker’s Snowmobile Club, c/o Francis “Bee” Sharpstene, 172 Dean Road, Russell, NY 13684.
